China is one of Italy's major partners. According to data from the Economic Observatory of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the total value of China-Italy imports and exports in 2022 approached 74 billion euros, which is a +36% increase compared to the 54.2 billion euros in 2021.

The 2023 Shenzhen Global Trade and Investment Promotion Conference focused on topics such as "Understanding and Consolidating Business Relationships" and invited business representatives from China and Italy to attend. Attendees included Xiaoyu Sun, Chief Representative of the Shenzhen Economic and Trade Office in Europe; Guangyu Xiao from the Shenzhen Economic and Trade Office in Europe; Geng Xiewei, Economic and Commercial Counselor of the Consulate General of the People's Republic of China in Milan; Regional Economic Development Counselor Guido Guidesi; David Doninotti, Secretary-General of the Italian Foreign Trade Association; Stefano De Paoli, Italy Representative and President of China Development at Invest Hong Kong; and Ana Río, Creative Director of the Shenzhen International Furniture Fair. The conference received strong support from the Chinese Economic and Trade Office in Europe, the Consulate General in Milan, and InvestHK.
